IN A TOUGH SITUATION.
DON’T SAY ‘WHY ME', SAY ‘TRY ME’.
I used to wonder how to conduct a professional podcast when hearing Vietcetera's series. The Making Media course answered all my questions and gave me a chance to conduct an excellent podcast. After all, my two most valuable learning experiences are making an 'unscripted' podcast that I can only make the storyline, not the transcript and time management skills.
In my program, Mr Soumik always emphasized the importance of producing a natural conversation that helps the podcast sounds more professional and can gain listeners' sympathy. Through class activities in that we recorded our random conversations, he helped me have a clear vision of the natural quality he wants our team can achieve. However, easier said than done; when we recorded the first draft, it sounded highly scripted and dry. Although we just listed down the bullet points without writing the entire script. Hence, we were freaking out as we understood that a scripted podcast is a failed one. Not giving up, I came up with the solution that our team would communicate in English in our daily life. Therefore, we can get used to the language and talk more naturally. It was strange at first, but it works when we record. Besides practising with my teammate, I talk with myself when alone and find an English podcast to mimic. As a result, on the presentation day, our team gained several complements of the natural voice and got an HD for that podcast.

Through this learning experience, I realized nothing is impossible and understand why people say 'fake it until you can make it'. This is a valuable experience as I found several exclusive techniques to conduct a natural conversation. I also walk outside my comfort zone, as I used to think I could not be a host for a show. I found making the podcast extremely fun, and I want to continue doing it in the future.

Additionally, having knowledge in recording and conducting content helps me have the ability to make a podcast that can reach out to my audience. As I want to participate in the Vietcetera podcast series, these fundamental credentials will be advantageous for the path to becoming a podcast master.

The following skills that I have to exchange a lot of tears and effort to learn are time management skills. Due to personal reasons, I was 1 minute late for the presentation. Accordingly, I had zero marks. It was hard to accept that reality because I put a lot of effort into making the podcast. The fear of failing this course was too big, leading to my life's most stressful period. However, I remember someone said, "When life puts you in tough situations. Don't say 'why me', say 'try me.' ". Therefore, I have put 200% into making the other assignments.

This experience gave me significant thoughts and changed my mindset. I was careless and not well prepared. To not make the same mistake, I am learning to use time management apps like Google calendar and find effective strategies to organize my school life. I also realized I have to prioritize my study over other extracurricular activities. Furthermore, I will carefully prepare for the assignment by reading regulations on canvas and noticing the lecture's mail.

It is a lifetime experience for me as I have to remind myself that lateness is not characteristic of professionals. In the future workforce, being late for only one minute can leads to catastrophic consequences that could be much bigger than a zero mark. Additionally, as the workload of the communicator is enormous, time management skills will help me organize work logically to achieve goals.
